Mia Vendt-Striim

Mia Vendt-Striim is co-founder and CEO of Vendt-Striim ApS. She is a coach and co-author of the book Brug dit Enneagram, with more than 20 years of experience with the Enneagram. Together with Balder she founded the company in 2003 and helped make business the focal point for the Enneagram in the Nordics.

As CEO, Mia sets the direction for Enneagram Kurser and the development of the method and the Enneagram test 360indicator. Her focus is turning the Enneagram into something that works in practice: better leadership, stronger collaboration and real personal development for leaders and employees.

Background

Mia Vendt-Striim graduated in 2003 and founded Vendt-Striim ApS the same year together with Balder. They held the first corporate courses in the Enneagram during the company's first year and were thereby among the first in the Nordic region to put business at the centre rather than therapy, spirituality or purely personal development. That decision is still at the heart of the company.

As chief executive, Mia sets the direction for Enneagram Kurser and holds professional responsibility for what the method looks like in practice. The work takes place in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and the material is available today in Danish, English, Swedish and Norwegian.

How Mia works

In her coaching, Mia starts from core motivation: not what people do, but what they are trying to achieve or avoid when they do it. That is where the difference between two people with the same behaviour lies, and it is also where a change can last beyond the good weeks. The work takes place both one to one and with leadership groups, where type-aware leadership and collaboration across types are the recurring themes.

She holds professional responsibility for the teaching material and for the method behind it: the type descriptions, the exercises, the reports and the ongoing quality assurance across the three sites. The Enneagram test 360indicator has been developed along the same lines, and it is built to give a result on all nine types, so that the nuances become visible instead of disappearing behind a single suggested type.

Day to day, Mia handles the feedback sessions on the 360indicator profiles — the conversation where a test result is translated into something you can use on Monday. Added to that is individual coaching of both employees and leaders, as well as team and group coaching. The group programmes usually include teaching, so Mia still teaches, simply in the format of coaching rather than from a whiteboard. She is rarely involved in open courses and training programmes, and even more rarely in in-house courses at companies, but it does happen.

Mia Vendt-Striim is a certified Enneagram Practitioner, Enneagram Master and Enneagram Trainer, as well as a certified Enneagram Coach. Balder Vendt-Striim holds the same certifications.

Brug dit Enneagram. The book was first published by Schultz in 2007 and is today published by Forlaget Striim. It is available in its fourth edition from 2014, and the most recent print run is 4,000 copies. Read about the book.
